Cole Skowron '27 wins State Catholic Individual Bowling Title

3/4/2026 12:04:00 PM

Cole Skowron '27 of Buffalo finished first out of a field of 32 Saturday in Long Island, NY in the New York State Catholic High School State Championship.

Skowron bowled 222, 199, 528, 180, and a massive 279 (1136 pins total) to qualify as the #1 seed.

Skowron was down 29 pins through five frames in the championship round, but a key miss in the sixth frame opened the door for Skowron to have a chance. From frame eight to ten, Skowron stuck with it finishing with a 222. Skowron's opponent finished with a 202.

Skowron is the third state champion in school history, joining Nick Rallo '17 and Blaine Benson '23.

The Crusaders sent four bowlers to the state championship, also earning them the virtue of members of the All-Catholic team.

Carson Kwiatkowski '27 of Grand Island came in third place after bowling games of 212, 212, 213, 232, and 203 (1073 total). On his way to a third place finish, Kwiatkowski defeated the two-time defending state champion 247-151.

Noah Trzaska '26 of Grand Island finished 20th, and Grant Rokitka '29 of Elma finished 22nd.

Rokitka became just the fourth freshman in school history to qualify for states.
