Rowing earns three medals at Canadian national championship regatta

CHS Rowing earned three medals at this past weekend's 2026 Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association's 79th National Championship Regatta on Martindale Pond in St. Catharines, Ontario.

The Senior Four of Oliver Reynolds '26, Brodie Vitko '27, Von Kramer '27, Ethan Pirigyi '26 and coxswain Joey Castiglione '27 captured a silver medal by finishing 0.8 seconds ahead of British Columbia's Claremont Secondary School. The event was won by E.L. Crossley.

The duo of Zack Benczkowski '26 and Patrick Basil '26 took bronze in the Senior Pair.

The Under-17 Lightweight Eight, crewed by Parker Stafford '29, James Lyons '29, Max Brown '28, Eli Feuerstein '28, Nathan Moss '29, Sebastian Schmitt '28, Bryce Trautman '28, Charlie Welsch '28 and coxswain Ezra Sikora '29 took another bronze, just 0.3 seconds behind silver-medalist Upper Canada College. 

The Under-17 Eight finished fourth in the grand final. Crew members were: Parker Stafford '29, James Lyons '29, Rylan Siuta '29, Lincoln Jacobs '29, Elliott Embow '28, Caspian Gustafson '29, Carter Micoli '28, Collin Harper '28 and coxswain Andrew Harris '28. 

The Crusaders will conclude their 2026 season racing the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, and the Under-16 Quad at the USRowing Youth National Championships in Sarasota, Florida this week. Racing begins on Thursday and runs through Sunday at Nathan Benderson Park.
