"It was good for Lancaster, good for Canisius and good for local football," Crusaders coach
Kraig Kurzanski '84 said of Friday night's back-and-forth finish in a 24-20 loss before a raucous overflow crowd at Lancaster. "I think we'll get better from here."
There were many memorable images (see photo gallery above) from what was a magical night for Western New York high school football as two of the area's best programs put on a back-and-forth show to the end.
A beautiful evening in Lancaster set the stage for a historic meeting of top Erie County private and public programs that had not been seen for decades.
The Crusaders' top-flght schedule continues this week at nationally-ranked Ohio power Masillon in Ohio.
