The perfect season: The Crusaders golf team capped off a flawless team season with the All-Catholic Championship.

The Crusaders' team score of 191 Friday at Springville Country Club gave CHS the All-Catholic Championship title to go along with the Monsignor Martin Athletic Association regular season crown they earned with an undefeated league campaign.

Leading the way for the Crusaders were Brayden Sheehan '24 (36), Connor Jackson '26 (37), McNamara Quinn '24 (38), Joey Bueme '27 (38) and Halim Habib '26 (42); Sam Atkinson '25 added a 43.

Canisius, coached by former Crusader standout Joe Mitchell, also finished first in a prestigious midseason event, the 21-team Midwest Prep Classic in Meadville, Pa.

"It feels great to win our second championship in two years. Last year was a co championship so this one definitely felt better," said Mitchell, whose Crusaders tied with St. Mary's last year. "This year we had such a deep team. It made the roster choices very tough on me, which was a good problem to have. I was able to get all of our 15 players in a match so that was great that each guy played a role in the undefeated season."

On Tuesday at Cherry Hill Club in Fort Erie, Ontario, five Crusaders finished in the top 10 of the Individual All-Catholic Tournament.

Playing through subpar weather, Joey Bueme '27 and Halim Habib '26 tied for second place with a 79, two shots behind winner Jack TeBeau of St. Francis. Connor Jackson '26 placed sixth shooting an 81, Brayden Sheehan '24 placed eighth shooting an 83 and McNamara Quinn '24 placed ninth with an 84.

Mitchell lauded seniors Cameron Culligan '24, Austin McMullen '24, Ryan Seereiter '24, Sheehan and Quinn for their contributions.

"Brayden and Mac were outstanding all season," Mitchell said. "Their leadership really showed when they weren't having their best days, because they showed the young guys not to give up. Mac was off to a rough start and didn't have his best stuff at Springville, but he didn't give up, made some birdies down the stretch and shot 38, which was huge for our team. Both of them have a bright future in the game. I'm also proud of senior Ryan Seereiter. Ryan was always a bright spot for the team, bringing a great attitude and keeping his teammates positive. He was a great leader on and off the course."

Ten of the 15 Crusader golfers are due to return next year.

"Our team should be deep for the next few years. Joey, Connor and Halim will lead the returners but I'm excited for Charlie Gibson '27, Sam Gugliuzza '25, and Matt Kreuzer '26 to play bigger roles. When those guys were given an opportunity this year, they were outstanding. Evan Mitskovsky '26 and Sam Atkinson will also be a major part of the team next season, as they were this year. I'm excited to see both of them work hard and come back even better next fall. I should have a lot of tough decisions again at tryouts and for the lineup next season. It's a good problem to have."
