CHS Wrestling opened the season with a dramatic come-from-behind victory to give first-year coach Josh Sweeney his first win.
With the Crusaders trailing going into the final match,
Noah Morlock '25 pinned his opponent to give Canisius a 37-36 win over the Kenmore B team at Lockport High School.
Morlock scrambled out of some tricky situations before scoring the win by fall.
Cameron Wiepert '27 started the night off strong by securing a fall using a half-nelson.
Sam Devlin '27 came on strong with a nice shot and immediately securing a fall against his opponent.
Brandon Wiepert '26 scored a big team win by securing another fall.
In his first career wrestling match,
Christian Jerome '25 took a shot and came out of a fierce scramble on top and pinned his opponent.
In extra matches,
Javez Caldwell '26 picked his opponent up off the floor on his way to a victory by pin.
Next up for the Crusaders is a home Monsignor Martin Athletic Association match against rival St. Joe's on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at
Bernard J. Kennedy Field House.
