Canisius High School's bowling program hosted their last home match of the season and made it a celebration of seniors for the entire Monsignor Martin League.

"These young men all have dedicated their year or years to the bowling programs and are a great representation of their school communities," said Canisius coach Michael Kwiatkowski '99.

"We especially honored our own two varsity members celebrating their last year at 1180 Delaware: Colin Laschinger '23 and Dante Calvaneso '23. Both of these young men have each been a huge part of not just the success of this record-breaking season, but stabilizing the program."

"Dante started with the team during his Sophomore year after COVID delayed the start of the season. Right away you could see his enjoyment of the game, the desire to be better and the ease he had to be a good teammate because his heart is so big. This year he earned his way to the Varsity team to earn his 1st Varsity letter and he has not disappointed. He has bowled over 30 games and is averaging about a 192. He always puts his teammates first and is always there for them, he deserved this opportunity as well as it proves once again why last year he was the recipient of the first official Pat Kwiatkowski '72 Memorial Scholarship Award given out at the Junior Awards Assembly.

"Colin was the first Freshman bowler to join the program after Coach Michael Kwiatkowski took over for his late father in 2019. Colin was a 4 year Letterman and has become a staple of the program. He trusted the coaches and was an essential person to show and prove the message Coach Pat left was being brought to a new generation of students to grow the program. The growth of this program in a short time is due to the success Colin has had with his teammates over the years to grow, work hard, to be a teammate for others, and to be a family!"

"Both young men have made us proud and look forward to see what the future holds for them."

As for the match, the Crusaders won all three games against St. Francis to bring their first-place record to 40-2.

High game was Blaine Benson '24 with a 268 to keep his league leading average at 207, Colin Laschinger '23 with a 254 and set of 638, and being called up for JV to reward his hard work this season, Ian Bren '25 with a 241 game! They continue to set records and have one more chance Thursday as they need two wins versus O'Hara to have the new single season record for wins in a season which was 41.5.

The team will also defend their 2022 All-Catholic title Saturday at Mallwitz Island Lanes beginning at 8:30am.
