CHS hosted some of the best local bowlers in Western New York Saturday at Mallwitz's Island Lanes as the Crusaders paid tribute to the patriarch of their program during the Pat Kwiatkowski '72 Memorial High School Classic.
While the Crusaders did not finish on top of the standings, they had a solid day of individual achievements while the the most important cause saw a great fundraising total for the Pat Kwiatkowski '72 Memorial Scholarship Fund.
"Coach K" coached the bowling program for 23 years and was inducted into the Canisius Hall of Fame posthumously in 2019.
In the Varsity A Division and Junior Varsity B Division, it was a clean sweep for the Lancaster Legends winning over St. Francis in the A division and Depew Wildcats in the B Division.
There was some amazing bowling in both divisions with two new tournament records were achieved individually: Nicholas Grabowski (Lockport) bowled his third career 300 on his way to a 790 set.
Both honor scores are new tournament records and gave him top honors on the All-Tournament Team.
The other All-Tournament team members were: Alex Scapillato (Lancaster), Jacob Zajac (West Seneca), Caleb Lorfice (Depew) and Michael Kaspiak (Lancaster).
"We thank all the bowlers and families for their support and making today such an amazing experience," said CHS coach Michael Kwiatkowski '99. " 'Coach K' looks down very proud."
