Soccer tops Nichols 8-0 on Senior Night

10/7/2025 9:28:00 AM

The Crusaders soccer team celebrated Senior Night in emphatic fashion, earning an 8–0 victory over Nichols to remain unbeaten in MMHSAA league play.

The Crusaders controlled the pace from the outset, striking five times in the opening half before adding three more after halftime to secure the dominant result.

The scoring began when Noah Cosgrove '26 delivered a corner kick that was finished by Anthony Pepe '26 to open the floodgates. Cosgrove provided another assist shortly after, setting up Henry Smith '26 for his first goal of the match.

Senior captain Austin Xiao '26 then combined with Smith for his second tally of the half. Anthony Franjoine '28 set up Hayden Cunningham '26 for the fourth, before Gabriele Pili '27 assisted Franjoine to send the Crusaders into the break with a commanding 5-0 lead.

The Crusaders continued to apply pressure in the second half. Carter Amodeo '27 played Smith through to complete his hat trick, and Bonaventure Shalamba '27 provided the service for Smith's fourth of the night.

The scoring was capped when Cunningham slipped a pass to Charles Delahunt '26, who converted to finish off the 8–0 victory.

Defensively, the Crusaders stayed disciplined and organized, limiting Nichols to minimal opportunities in the attacking third. Goalkeepers Octavian Santacrose '26 and Christian Lumba '27 combined for the Crusaders' eighth shutout of the season and their third consecutive clean sheet.
