Dominant defense and great offense led Western New York's consensus No. 1 to another big road win as Canisius won its first major Monsignor Martin Athletic Association matchup of the season, 57-47, at Nichols' Gerard Gymnasium.
Christian Gill '27 of Buffalo scored a game-high 17 pts and
Jack Cullinan '27 of Orchard Park scored 15 as CHS (7-4, 3-0) remained unbeaten in WNY with its seventh straight win over the top four Vikings (7-3, 1-2).
Canisius took control of the game with a 16-2 second quarter.
At 6:30 p.m. Friday, the Crusaders head to Kenmore to take on St. Joe's, another fellow top four school, in the teams' first rivalry meeting of the season.
ST. JOE'S TICKET INFO: Tickets ($5) for Friday's game will be on sale at the CHS front reception desk on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A sellout is expected as seating is very limited at St. Joe's.
Half of the top 10 large schools are Monsignor Martin teams (St. Francis and St. Mary's are also ranked).
