The Varsity Soccer team took on rival St. Joe's for the first time this season and left no doubt about their intentions to compete for the league title as they defeated the Marauders in a convincing 4-0 win at Stransky.
While Canisius had many great first half opportunities to score, the Crusaders finally got on the board with a fantastic goal from
Eliott Wurst in the final minutes. Taking a 1-0 lead into halftime, Canisius kept up an aggressive style of play and soon turned a close game into a dominant win. Wurst tallied another goal in the opening minutes of the second frame, and
Victor Mazzara and
Zachary Bonuito followed shortly after with tallies of their own.
Canisius, ranked 3rd in the Western New York Soccer Coaches poll, improved their season record to 9-1-1 and is next in action on Tuesday for a Senior Day game against Bishop Timon.
