Canisius volleyball opened up its Monsignor Martin Athletic Association schedule with a strong performance as it swept St. Francis, 3-0.
The Crusaders beat the visiting Red Raiders, 26-24, 25-22, 25-22, at
Bernard J. Kennedy '49 Field House.
That marked two straight home sweeps for CHS, following its season-opening sweep of visiting Orchard Park.
"I thought tonight's match was a gritty win," remarked Head Coach Angelo Calabrese '00. "The players faced a lot of adversity and they overcame it like they have already done multiple times this season. There is a lot to work on, but they will continue to get better everyday."
Dylan Leong '25 lead the Crusaders in kills with 16 and he recorded 14 digs and five aces.
Logan Unger '25 led the Crusaders with 35 assists.
Griffin Zgoda '25 led the team with a 2.41 passer rating.
Louis Civisca '25 was perfect on serving with three aces and no errors on 11 attempts. He also led the in service pressure rating with a 2.73.
Matthew Jackson '26 added nine kills while hitting for a .538 percentage.
Next up, the Crusaders compete in another annual showdown of many of Western New York's best programs at the Eden Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the ROCK-Niagara Frontier Sports facility.
