A freshman led the way with three goals while Eric Gioia '25 won 95% of his faceoffs and Canisius allowed only one goal in the second half to win their first major Monsignor Martin Athletic Association matchup of the season, 7-4, over visiting St. Francis on Monday.
 
Wyatt Van Tine '28 of Hamburg scored three goals,  Braxton Kilgour '26 of Niagara Falls had two and Gioia of Buffalo also contributed a goal and two assists on Koessler Field at the Stransky Memorial Complex.

Goalie Nick Dutrieux '26 of Lewiston had 10 saves. The game was tied 3-3 at halftime. Cameron Gallagher '25 of the Town of Tonawanda added a goal while Chris Sweeney '26 of Ridgeway, Ontario and Dan Sugg '25 of Lancaster each had an assist.

Canisius (3-2) is now 2-0 in MMAA play. The next league game for CHS is at St. Joe's on Thursday, April 24 at 5 p.m.
 
The Crusaders play Aquinas in Rochester at 6 p.m. Thursday before heading on a spring break trip to the  Carolinas that includes matchups with Lake Norman Charter in Huntersville, N.C. and Legion Collegiate Academy in Rock Hill, S.C.
