Canisius High School took gold in three events at the John Bennett Regatta at the West Side Rowing Club on Sunday.
The Crusaders' efforts were punctuated by the Varsity Eight, which won by open water over E.L. Crossley (Ontario), a crew comprised of multiple Canadian Scholastic National champions.

Noah Rajecki '25 took control of the race from the opening strokes and led wire to wire ahead of Crossley, Pittsford Rowing Club, Upper Canada College and the Canisius Second Varsity Eight (video below).
Prior to the Eight race, the Crusader Varsity Four of Feeney, Aljuwani, Renschler Pandey, Pirigyi and coxswain
Cole Skowron '27 won by 4.5 seconds over E.L. Crossley, with Pittsford and Upper Canada rounding out the final.
The 2024 U.S. Youth National champions of Feeney and Aljuwani joined forces to win the Varsity Pair, racing against teammates
Zack Benczkowski '26 and
Patrick Basil '26, who captured bronze.
Earlier in the day, the Canisius freshmen/novice program finished second in the Freshman Four, Novice Eight and Freshman Eight, with the latter crew behind E.L. Crossley but 15 seconds ahead of rival St. Joe's.
Canisius and coach Jacob Filby '14 heads to Saratoga Springs for the New York State Championships on May 10-11 in an attempt to win state titles and qualify crews for both the Scholastic National Championships in Pennsauken, New Jersey and the Youth National Championships in Sarasota, Florida.
