When the United States takes on the world in this summer's World Rowing Under-19 Championships, two members of the men's eight will be 2025 Canisius High School graduates.

Isaiah Aljuwani '25 of Kenmore and Liam Feeney '25 of West Seneca, who both helped CHS to unprecedented heights this spring by leading the Crusaders to multiple national championships, were both selected for the U.S. eight that will compete in the worlds on Aug. 6-9 in Trakai, Lithuania.

Both Crusaders – who will both attend Boston University – were picked for the eight following their participation in USRowing's Under-19 National Team Selection Camp in Chula Vista, California. The camp concluded Thursday at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center.

Jamie Hamp '11, a North Tonawanda native, is one of two assistants on the men's coaching staff for the USRowing Under-19 team as a Men's Boat Coach.

The U.S. – which will have crews competing in seven events, including the men's and women's four, quadruple sculls, and eight, as well as the men's single sculls – earned four medals at the 2024 World Rowing U19 Championships in St. Catharines, Ontario (one gold, one silver, two bronze).

Also this past week, Ethan Pirigyi '26 of Buffalo and Brodie Vitko '27 of Hamburg concluded their participation in the USRowing U19 Selection Development Camp in Ypsilanti, Mich., with impressive performances at the inaugural International Rowing Challenge (see previous post).
