CHS Rowing stands out at states – again.
It was another outstanding performance for the Crusaders as CHS won three state titles at the New York State High School Championships on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs this past weekend.

On Saturday, Canisius posted a scholastic sweep of the Men's Pair, finishing in the gold, silver and bronze medal positions scholastically as the Crusaders placed first, second, fourth, fifth and 10th overall.
The state meet includes scholastic crews that represent individual high schools (like CHS) as well as club crews which include students from various schools in a particular region.
The senior combination of
Ethan Pirigyi '26 and
Oliver Reynolds '26 led the second-place crew of
Von Kramer '27 and
Brodie Vitko '27.
Rounding out the Grand Final,
Zack Benczkowski '26 and
Patrick Basil '26 finished third scholastically with their fourth-place finish while
Linden Serbinowski '27 and Joe Cheney '26 finished fifth.
Juniors
Zach Bialkowski '27 and Stas Ryskin '27 won the B-Final to come in 10th place.
Canisius has won the Pair each year going back to 2022.
In a first for the program,
Hagen Leuthe '28 made the final in the Varsity Single event, placing seventh.
On Sunday's racing, Canisius finished second scholastically in the Varsity and Second Varsity Eights for the third consecutive year. Both crews qualified for the Youth National Championships in Sarasota, Florida for the second year in a row.
After racing in the Eight, the Varsity Four of Pirigyi, Reynolds, Benczkowski and Vitko posted a 15-second win in the final race of the day – Canisius has now won the Varsity Four three years running.
The Junior Eight finished seventh in the final and fourth scholastically. Sophomores

or the Freshmen team, James Lyons '29, Lincoln Jacobs '29, Parker Stafford '29, and Nathan Moss '29 posted a first-place scholastic finish in the Freshman Quad. The Under-16 Coxed Quad earned a silver medal and the Freshman Eight took bronze.
Canisius will head to the South Niagara Invitational Regatta in Welland, Ontario, before racing a final home regatta on Memorial Day.
