Congratulations to
Alex Burgos Jr. '26 of CHS Football, who will be honored during Thursday night's Buffalo Bills game as an NFL Latino Youth Honors selection.
The NFL Latino Youth Honors program, in partnership with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, sees each NFL team recognize outstanding high school tackle and flag football seniors from around the country for their academic and athletic excellence.
Each of the 32 NFL teams selects just one male and one female nominee; congratulations also to Nola Marrero of Mount Mercy Academy, the @buffalobills' other selection.
From the 64 exemplary student-athletes, a group of eight finalists will be selected, with each representing one of the NFL's eight divisions. The finalists will participate in special activities during Super Bowl LX Week and will receive $5,000 grant awards that can be used for college; male and female overall winners will receive grants of $25,000.
Burgos, a Buffalo native who attended West Buffalo Charter School, is a defensive back for the Crusaders (1-1), who play at Ohio power Walsh Jesuit (4-0) at 7 p.m. Friday.
Canisius' next home game will be at 2 p.m. Sat. Sept. 27 against St. Joe's – Canisius has won 11 straight and 21 out of the last 22 rivalry games, including last year's MMAA title game.
