CHS Cross Country ran to an eighth-place finish in a great field at the prestigious East Aurora Invitational Saturday in the Crusaders' second invitational of the season.
The varsity team was led by Captain
Aidan Rivera, who placed 25th overall with a time of 17:26.
Sophomore rookie Syd Pratt finished second on the team with a time of 18:00. The Canisius freshmen were led by Daniel Kooshoian, who finished third on the varsity squad with a time of 18:13.
Brody Campbell,
Quinn Spurlock,
Ben Oswald, Wyatt VanTine,
Jackson Polino and Vincent Ladori all broke 20 minutes on the 3-mile course.
The varsity team placed eighth overall, defeating teams from rival St. Francis, Orchard Park, Starpoint and Williamsville North.
The JV team was led by junior rookie Peter McGrath with a time of 19:57.
He was followed close behind by freshmen Connor Dickerson, Eoin Stodloka and Garrett Flaherty.
The JV team captured a third-place finish, defeating teams from Amherst, Starpoint, Kenmore West and Hamburg.
The team's next competition will be on Saturday at the 60th running of one of the best meets in the Northeast, the McQuaid Invitational at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester.
