CHS Wrestling earned two runner-up finishes and will send three Crusaders to the state Catholic meet following this past weekend's tremendous All-Catholic Championships.
From left to right:
Jackson Polniak '29 of Lancaster (fourth at 144 pounds), coach
Zachary Wojnar,
Lucas Schmitz Matos '28 of Getzville (second at 175) and
Corban Burke '27 of Grand Island.
The All-Catholic meet displayed why the Monsignor Martin Athletic Association is one of the top leagues in the state as host St. Francis' nationally-ranked team won all weight classes.
Canisius' growing program will be represented by the three underclassmen on Sunday, Feb. 15 as St. Mary's hosts the New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association Championships in Lancaster.
The Monsignor Martin's best will take on outstanding programs from downstate in the state meet, with only the CHSAA champion at each weight class qualifying for the overall state championships, the New York State Federation meet.
Our thanks to outstanding photographer Jeff Pataky and the unrivaled Matt O'Rourke of @wnywrestlingcentral for these images and all the tremendous work they do for wrestling in Western New York.
