Troy Gooch '18 has again been selected as a member of the USA Volleyball National Team. 

Gooch, who plays professionally in Europe, is on the U.S. roster for this summer's Volleyball Nations League. He previously competed for USA Volleyball on the 2023 and 2025 Pan Am Cup teams.

The Lancaster native, who won a national championship with UCLA in 2023, is one of four liberos on the 30-player U.S. VNL roster. He is a member of the SWD Powervolleys team Düren, Germany, where he was the team's top libero this season. He previously played with Finland's Hurrikaani-Loimaa, winning a championship in 2024. 

While the U.S. is taking part in the second of the three legs of the Volleyball Nations League this week in Paris, Gooch and other national team members will be part of the summer's second Stars & Stripes Scrimmage on Friday in Tustin, California. 

A 14-player group is selected from the overall roster for each of the three separate VNL preliminary rounds.

The U.S. went 3-1 in its first VNL preliminary round in Ottawa, Canada earlier this month; the third round will be at Hoffman Estates, Illinois on July 15-19. The U.S. and coach Karch Kiraly are aiming at being one of the eight teams to qualify for the VNL Finals in Ningbo, China from July 29 to Aug. 2. 

Gooch was part of the CHS streak of 23 straight Monsignor Martin Athletic Association championships, as were brother Trevor '15 and father Dennis, a longtime assistant coach for the Crusaders.
