Hockey earns win, tie at Albany Academy Tournament

CHS Hockey went 1-0-1 at the Albany Academy Tournament this weekend.

12/22: Canisius 5-0 vs Albany Academy

The Crusaders took care of business against Albany Academy to open the tournament.

The line of Jack Vento '24, Jack Daigler '25 and Jackson Deet '25 accounted for seven out of the 10 points. Goalie Tyler Bridge '25 recorded his second shutout of the year.

Canisius Scoring 

Period 1:
- Jackson Deet '25 opened up scoring right away with assists from Jack Vento '24 and Braedan Griffin '25 (15:49).

Period 2:
- Jack Daigler '25 extended the lead to two with assists from Jack Vento '24 and Jackson Deet '25 (10:29).
- Nic Zivis '24 barried the puck in the top corner unassisted (4:02).

Period 3:
- Braeden Griffin '25 found the back of the net unassisted (9:05).
- Jack Daigler '25 scored his second goal with an assist from Jackson Deet '25 (4:49).


12/23: Canisius vs Bethlehem Central 4-4, OT

After falling behind by three early, the Crusaders bounced back with four unanswered goals. A late goal by Bethlehem in the third period tied things up that extended the game into overtime where both teams were unsucessful in finding the back of the net. From the start of the second period on, Ryan Seereiter '24 saved 94 percent of shots, with four big saves in OT.

Canisius Scoring

Period 2:
- Austin McMullen '24 got things going for the Crusaders with an unassisted goal (7:04).
- Jack Daigler '25 scored quickly after with assists from Jackson Deet '25 and Jack Vento '24 (6:32).
- Austin McMullen '24 scored again to tie things up with an assist from Aaron Eberhard '24 (1:59).

Period 3:
- Lucas Dembski '24 gave the Crusaders the lead with a breakaway pass from Jack Vento '24 (10:34).

Next up, the Crusaders are back in Monsignor Martin Athletic Association action against Bishop Timon-St. Jude on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at the Northtown Center.
