The Varsity Federation hockey team began their season with back-to-back victories at the Northtown Center. After defeating the McQuaid Jesuit Knights on Nov 27th in a 4-1 victory, the Crusaders took on the host Spartans of Williamsville North and scored a convincing win.

Liam McCarty '23 got the scoring started halfway through the first period, with the Lukes (Braun and Daigler) on the scoresheet with assists.

The second period, however, is where the Crusaders put their stamp on the game, adding five tallies in the frame. Goals from McCarty, Luke Braun '22, Evan Healy '23, and Ryan Spiesz '22 gave Canisius a comfortable 5-0 lead, and the Crusaders would add one more tally in the third period from Luke Braun, who ended the game with a team-high 3 points (two goals and an assist). 

Braeden Gryzbak '24 earned the shutout victory for Canisius against North, following up on the great play from the day before from Michael Gold '22, who earned the win over McQuaid.
