The CHS Sailing team traveled to Toms River, New Jersey to compete in the MASSA (Mid Atlantic Scholastic Sailing Association) Spring Gold Fleet Championship and Mallory Qualifier.
Canisius was one of just three NYS schools represented at the MASSA Gold Championship; the Crusaders beat all the other local high schools to earn their spot among 18 qualifying sailing teams.
It was beautiful weather for sailing, with sunny skies, temperatures in the 60s, and a consistent breeze. The Crusaders sailed 28 races over two days.
Jack Riley '25 and
Matt Murad '26 were skipper and crew in the A fleet and
Charlie Marynowski '26 and
Will Emblidge '27 were skipper and crew in B fleet.
Canisius was in the middle of the pack after Day One and finished 14th overall.
Next up, the Crusaders head to Rochester to compete in the New York State Championships on Saturday, May 18.
