Sailing readies to take to Lake Erie for MASSA Silver Invitational

10/23/2025 6:59:00 PM

As they prepare to take to Lake Erie for a championship regatta this weekend, here's a fun look at those pursuing excellence every day behind the Blue Doors and for CHS Sailing.

The Crusaders will compete in the Mid-Atlantic Scholastic Sailing Association's Silver Invitational on Saturday and Sunday out of the Buffalo Yacht Club. Schools from Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia will also be part of the competition. MASSA, which is a district of the Inter-Scholastic Sailing Association, also includes high school teams from Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Canisius qualified for the Silver Invitational following their performance earlier this season at the NYISA Fleet Race Qualifier out of the Chautauqua Lake Community Sailing Foundation in Lakewood.

The team consists of Charlie Marynowski '26 of Buffalo, Matthew Murad '26 of Buffalo, Jacob Barney '27 of Angola, Corban Burke '27 of Grand Island, Colton Davis '27 of Hamburg, William Emblidge '27 of Buffalo.

CHS will also compete next weekend at the MASSA Keelboat Qualifier in Larchmont, New York. The Crusaders were the only local school to qualify, doing so by beating St. Joe's in all four races.

Action this weekend out of the Buffalo Yacht Club begins each day at 8:30 a.m. and continues into the afternoon.
