Canisius Sailing kicked off its fall season with a first-place finish Saturday at the Back to School Regatta in Rochester.

It was a sunny and breezy day, where Jack Riley '25 skippered with crew Will Emblidge '27 for the A fleet. The B fleet had rotating skipper and crew; Matt Murad '26 and Chuck Marynowski '26.

Canisius finished with a one-point lead over the Irondequoit High School sailing team and beat out Nichols, St. Joe's and other regional teams from Chautauqua, Sodus Bay and Rochester.

The Crusaders will next compete in the Divisional Fleet Qualifiers on Oct. 6 at the Buffalo Yacht Club.
