Andy played four years of varsity football as a lineman who starred on offense and defense. He also played three years of varsity baseball, making the team as a freshman. His classmates voted him the best football player and most popular senior. Andy joined the Navy immediately after graduation and served for three years in the Asian theatre of war with the Amphibians Corps. After discharge he returned to the classroom, graduating from Canisius College in 1950. A social studies teacher for many years in the Buffalo Public Schools, he retired in 1989. Andy was the proud father of six daughters and twelve grandchildren.
