john Schratz earned three varsity letters manning the Crusader blue line in the early '80s. Known for his aggressive play, John's hockey honors include being named All-WNY twice and playing on the All-Catholic Team three times. John's individual success helped his team attain the #7 rank in the state, as well achieve victories in the Ithaca and Alexandria Bay Tournaments his junior year. John won consecutive Monsignor Martin Championships and was co-captain his senior year.Â
After Canisius, he played at Plattsburgh and in 1986 was drafter by the Washington Capitals.
