Salvatore "Torre" Mazzara lettered four times as a wrestler. He started to make a name for himself in his sophomore year by placing third at the All-Catholic meet in the 191 lb. division. As a junior, Torre won the All-Catholic meet, placed first in the West Seneca Tournament, and came in second in the Orchard Park Tournament. In his senior year, he was named captain and led his team to a second place finish overall at the All-Catholics. Torre was the All-Catholic Champion and was named the League's Most Valuable Player. Outside of the Monsignor Martin Athletic Association, Torre placed second in the Catholic State Championship. Torre also placed first and was named Most Outstanding Wrestler in three other tournaments his senior year: West Seneca Tournament, the Orchard Park Tournament, and the Canisius Tournament. He came second in the Fredonia Tournament as well.

After graduation he coached the Crusaders from 1994 to 1999 helping Canisius gentlemen with numerous All-Catholic Championships and two Monsignor Martin League Titles.
