John Restivo was one of the best all around athletes in the history of Canisius High School. A three-sport Varsity athlete by his sophomore year, John possessed a distinctive mix of strength, speed and ability that is rare at a scholastic level. His post season accolades include 1st Team All-Catholic as a sophomore and junior for football and he was 1st Team All-Catholic and 1st Team All WNY for the 1994 Georgetown Cup Championship baseball team. John achieved this high level of success despite suffering serious knee injuries his junior and senior year. His fondest athletic memory at CHS was closing out his high school career with a Georgetown Cup Championship, the first of four consecutive championships captured by the Crusaders. After graduating from Canisius, John earned a BS in Education from Buffalo State College and an MS in Education from Canisius College. In the late 1990s, John returned to the Canisius Baseball Program as a coach, helping with the freshman team.
