Jim was center and co-captain of coach Bob MacKinnon's two Manhattan Cup Cage Champions of 1952 and 1953. He was selected as captain of the All-Catholic team in his senior year. Jim went on to play for the great Canisius College Quintets that participated in successive NCAA tournaments in the mid-fifties. Between degrees at Canisius and NYU he served as a second lieutenant in the Army Transportation Corps.
