Larry Michael was a five time Varsity Letter winner earning three in Baseball and two in Football. The diamond was Larry's field of expertise as the legendary coach Johnny Barnes once described Larry as, "My best shortstop since Sibby Sisti '38." As a sophomore Larry helped the Crusaders finished one game short of the division championship but suffered through a disappointing 4-14 season in 1964. Expectations were not high in 1965 when Larry and his teammates battled their way to a tie for the Division title with a surprise record of 14-4. Led by Larry's defense and hitting, along with strong support on the mound. The 1965 Crusaders earned Coach Barnes one of his most unexpected Championships. Larry earned All-Catholic for his efforts in his senior year.

After Canisius, Larry went on to the University of Buffalo and earned a BS in Education and an MBA. He has been active in the Western New York scholastic athletics as a referee and administrator. In 2004 he received the Section VI Football Federation Lifetime Achievement Award.
