Ray Flannery was a brilliant play maker and a high-scoring guard on the 1985 Crusader quintet that won the Manhattan Cup. Chosen for the All-Catholic First Team, he was a recipient of the Jeff Korn Memorial award as Crusader Athlete of the Year.Â
He earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering at the University of Notre Dame and a bachelor's degree at George Mason University. He was named Athlete of the Year at Griffis Air Force Base in 1993 and inducted into the Rome, New York, Sports Hall of Fame.Â
He has worked a network design engineer for Verizon, and he also holds the rank of major in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He has received numerous awards and commendations for his achievements in the science/engineering field.Â
