Marcus was an outstanding single sculler on several of Canisius greatest crews. In 1984 he was selected as the High School Oarsman of the Year by the West Side Rowing Club in recognition of his three gold medals in the National Rowing Championships and his numerous medals won over five years in the Empire State Games. The following year Marcus was voted Scholastic Athlete of the Year by the West Side Sportsmen's Association. He was a member of the heavyweight crew team at the University of Pennsylvania from which he graduated in 1989. Graduated cum laude degree from UB Medical School. Residing in Williamsville, Marcus has been in practice since 1998 as an orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee and hip replacement surgery with a sub specialization in outpatient partial knee replacements.
