Varsity fullback for 3 years (captain in senior year) and varsity baseball catcher for 4 years when CHS was located on Washington Street. . .a John Barnes favorite because of his great attitude and ruggedness in toughest situations. . .football career at Canisius College cut short by service in US Army during WWII. . .his post-war education prepared him for a lengthy and successful career as a math instructor, first at Ryan HS and later at Cardinal O'Hara H.S. . . .coached football and baseball at both schools with outstanding success. . .justly proud of coaching football's Notre Dame Cup Champions and baseball's Georgetown Cup Champions.
