Excelling in the short distance races, Leonard was All-Catholic in these events for four years. . .many of his school and league records still stand. . .on the gridiron he was a defensive back and wide receiver on a championship Crusader team. . .caught six touchdown passes in his senior year, including a 92 yarder against St. Joe's. chosen on the first All-Catholic team. attended Kent State and Canisius College before joining the U.S. Marines.
