Pound for pound, Dick could well be the best all around athlete ever to compete at Canisius. Despite his diminutive size, he quarterbacked the football team, was point guard on a championship basketball team and sparkled at second base on the baseball diamond. He earned two masters degrees, one at St. Bonaventure and the other at SUNY at Albany, in addition to sewing a stint in the Army. Dick coached football, basketball and track at the secondary level while pursuing a career in education that saw him rise from the classroom to high school principal to superintendent of schools in Savona-Franklinville. Now retired, Dick has been married for over 50 years, has two sons and lives in Florida.
