Jack Turner utilized drive and determination to put himself on the path to being one of the best wrestlers in the history of the Canisius High School wrestling program. During his four years on varsity he amassed over 90 wins, including 35 wins his senior year. He won every regular season match as a sophomore, junior and senior. He was a 3-time All-Catholic Champion and was the 2000 All-Catholic tournament's most Outstanding Wrestler. In 2000 Jack became the Catholic High School Athletic Association State Champion, one of only three Crusaders to ever achieve that level of success. Jack has been described by teammates and coaches as, "the fiercest competitor in the program but also the finest gentleman." During his time on the mat, "... Jack was universally feared by all his opponents, yet he was truly respected by each of them and their coaches."

After high school Jack attended Canisius College earing degrees in History and Spanish. In 2006 he graduated fromm the University of Notre Dame with his Masters in Education degree in Foreign Language Education
