Jeff was a captain and star on the Canisius hockey team when the sport was in its infancy under Coach Jeff Gemmer. The Crusader icemen were a playoff team and a championship contender in the Niagara Frontier Hockey League. His younger brother John followed him at Canisius and was later drafted by the Washington Capitals. 

Jeff played varsity hockey at Williams College for four years and subsequently graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Cincinnati.

Jeff is now an orthopedic surgeon in Lockport, NY where he resides.
