An All-Catholic and All-Western New York track and field star for three years, Marty holds the CHS record for the 100 and 200 meters and was also a member of the record holding 400 meter relay team. Academically, he was chosen for the National Honor Society and other hors groups. 

Marty graduated with a bachelors degree from the University of Pennsylvania where he continued his athletic career in football and track and field. 

Marty went on to play briefly with the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL and the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL. 

He would later earn a Masters degree from Kutztown University.
